Fitness Diary- IV

Do you go to pizza hut and start looking for a salad, without a mayonnaise dressing. Well, I did just that! When my family wanted to check out the new pizza in town, I tried to woo them to something healthier, maybe southindian- where I could do with idlis, maybe here, maybe there, but no not pizza hut, when I had spent a good ten mins preening in front of the mirror, marveling at my new waist. Of course, I had just a tiny a slice of pizza later that evening, but it made me realize that I indeed have a strong will power, I took time enjoying my salad which was really nice. It was a mix of exotic vegetables with a predominant oregano and lemon flavor. Only gripe it was a li'l more salty than required. It took me some time to write this particular diary, coz a lot was happening. I gained half a kg , lost it back, gained more gyaan on my metabolism, fitness and here I am posting how the very busy working mom is trying to stay bang on with her fitness regime. Brief note about self:...

Mommy's insight

All of us working tribe have those wonderful lil secrets (read skills) up our sleeve that helps us multitask so very well. We all are masters at it and keep getting better each year. I for one will enlist gradually all that comes to my mind that has helped me ace at work and give my best to my family also. I don’t want to sound preachy, but what I write in this post has been learnt over the past few years I have been working and this has come through my own trials and errors. Following these tips is easier than finding yourself loaded with emergencies, anxiety and stress. 1 . Wake up early maybe even 30 minutes before you usually do. It will make a difference to your whole day. 2. Hire competent maids even if they have an attitude, pamper them and bear with them, if they are good. Use your mind to rake up employee retention schemes and customize to suit your maids requirements and your own financial capacity. No point in scooting for a new one every 8 months, after she’s all tra...

Fitness Diary - III

I lost 3 kgs in the past month. I am on seventh heaven and this made me stick more religiously to my schedule. I have’nt gone overboard with anything, neither killing myself working out nor starving. I am trying to live a healthy lifestyle, am happy the way I feel and look. I am learning something everyday about good health, fitness, nutrition. It’s just that I was not looking for such insight earlier. The more you look for solutions, the more you find them! U can be what you really really want to be! Why am I writing these diaries, firstly to help me track what I am doing, refer back what was done right on the fitness front and stick to the solutions found. Well its archiving my own good work for future references. I see results so its worth the effort. But pls, let me put it down here that i am no nutritionist, no doctor, i am still learning about myself, what works for me and what does'nt, it may be an entirely different story for you, so go find yourself. While on a weight ...

What's in the tiffin mommy?

Image
Kids are pretty choosy about what they eat. With time I now know what my 3 year old likes to eat and how to disguise the veggies. From the very beginning I have been giving her fruits and veggies, it started with soups and stews, then purees, then bite size small pieces which can be eaten easily and don’t choke. If you have planned your menu in advance and do some weekend preparation as I mentioned here , these tiffin ideas barely take 5 mins to dole out. I grate thin carrots in poha and upma. I try to squeeze in cheese in most meals. I usually avoid refined flour (maida) or junk food and only use whole wheat bread. Trick is to rotate and give variety in breakfast to ensure she’s excited to open up her tiffin. There’s always some small bite size seasonal fruit, tiny pieces of carrot in that li’l pink box. Below are some of my all time favorite options for kiddo tiffin and I have promised myself to recap the recipes of all mentioned below: 1. Daliya (cracked wheat upma) with l...

Fitness Diary - II

My dresses fit me better, I am energetic, though my knee hurts while climbing stairs these days. I can walk much more without feeling fatigued. I feel lighter and my digestion has improved 1. Never stop doing your exercise, whatever be the circumstances, be it a brisk walk around your lawn/ sprint upto the local grocery or getting up from the computer to get the photo copy or going upto someone else’ seat just to say hi. Fitness experts say it is important to avoid sitting for long durations and get up at least every 30 minutes. 2. Keep exercising however little it is, say if u doing 10 suryanamaskars a day, and on a holiday u are’nt able to find time for all 10 then you can do 5, which ways u don’t end up losing the flexibility your body has gained while exercising, your muscles retain the strength to keep working out and you feel good. 3. Keep variety in your activities, as in, on a day when I did no yoga, walking or gym I took the li’l one to a nearby park, we ran a lot, pla...
