It’s gonna be a FIT year! I will enjoy every moment that will be! & Visit the SUNSCREEN SONG to remember ALL IS WELL! Sunscreen Song by Baz Luhrmanngoes like this: Ladies and Gentlemen of the class of '97. Wear sunscreen. If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it. The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists, whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience... I will dispense this advice now. Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth; oh nevermind; you will not understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded. But trust me, in 20 years you'll look back at photos of yourself and recall in a way you can't grasp now how much possibility lay before you and h...

My Fitness Rules

Most of us take fitness for granted, we feel it is important to take a gym membership, it is important to take resolutions to walk, run, skip the rope etc. but to have health incorporated in our lifestyles is often overlooked. While staying with my parents for the past month, I realized that sooner or later we are all going to be old and will be lucky, if, by that age we don’t have diabetes, heart ailments etc. My parents have both. Now, since genes play a part in the inheritance of diseases….hahahaha, it becomes utmost important that HEALTH IS ON THE AGENDA MOST TIMES. Make it a priority and a ‘way of life’. I had been very fit some 4 years back, and had worked very hard to lose weight and had managed to keep it that way. As a result even after my daughter was born I was back to my original weight within few months. But as time passed I conveniently forgot all about this fitness talk. When my weight started piling up I found a great excuse in ‘ there’s hardly any time for workout’. ...

Yummy Chicken Soup

While trying to help my daughter with her lung infection, I started giving her chicken soup daily. Now as a kid, I remember I used to hate the word, mainly because it was nowhere near how chicken actually tasted, this watery broth was a rough deal, gulped down majorly due to my mom’s angry eyes fixed on me, making sure I lick that last drop. For my daughter, I developed my own recipe after reading somewhere that chicken, onion and garlic are awesome together. So my concoction might help you to dole out yummier soup RECIPE: 2 pieces of chicken- about 3 inch pc each 1 badi elaichi (black cardamom) Half tsp whole black peppers- crushed coarsely 1 stick of cinnamon- one inch 2 onions large and chopped 8-9 garlic pods 1 tsp oil Salt to taste Heat the pressure cooker, put the oil, add badi elaichi, crushed whole peppers, cinnamon. While the aroma comes out of the wonderful khadaa masala, put the garlic, lightly sauté all for half a minute and then put onion. After the onion is sli...

What every woman should do

This is not just a post its promise every single woman needs to make to herself. My daughter was sick, past fortnight and being alone made things worse. What I learnt during this period that: 1. Women take their own health for granted, its imp that you stay physically active,, eat well, don’t skip breakfast, take your multivitamins, have a health drink, I have started with Women’s Horlicks. 2. Its also imp that we stay mentally very tough and patient, it is virtually ‘US’ around whom the whole family revolves, so we better start taking care of ourselves now. It’s imp that to get that fitness and to vent your negativity and helplessness, which may creep in at times, you grab those early morning hours to take a brisk 15 min walk… this will help you sail thru the day with renewed confidence and vigor. Sometimes all you need is a change of scene, physical environment to GET A BETTER PERSPECTIVE AND HANG OF THINGS AROUND YOU. 3. Patience is also a key skill we need to build on and dev...

Promises to keep: 32nd birthday

Last week I celebrated my birthday. While digging into a lovely black forest cake it clicked somewhere SUDDENLY that life is very beautiful, I was surrounded by people I loved and it could’nt have been better! These last 10 years had seen me graduate from college, struggle really hard to get this job, get posted to a metro i dreaded to be alone in-Mumbai, eventually find love, get married to the one I loved, build a beautiful nest with my soulmate and the best part- welcome a new family member, who makes me skip a heart beat everytime I look at her. The numbers to my age made me wiser, calmer and patient. All these years birthdays had been celebrated with the same energy warmth and love. I made resolutions, slept over them only to come up with similar newly worded ones the next year. Let’s see if this year could be different for I am going to keep them as promises to myself and my family! Does that sound newly worded……naaaaaaaaaaah! 1. I have to eat healthy and reduce junk to once...

Quick Skin care in your 30s

I wondered why women complimented me on my glowing face, always. I have dry skin with occasionally oily t-zone. I would generally not pay a lot of attention to it. So, I thought. But while going threadbare at what regime I followed or did not follow, i realized that my skin care was primarily deep rooted into home remedies, minimal usage of chemical based products, and it was CHEAP and FUSS FREE. The reason for this kind of regime could be that I was mostly focused on academics in school, had some fun experimenting the below listed tricks in college and once I started working I was always hard pressed for time. So here’s what I’ve been doing right I guess, rest it’s all my genes. These tips barely take 5-10 mins and I don’t follow any periodicity. At times I do it every week, at times after months I apply a face pack. Mom always said that do not fiddle with your face, and probably that has helped . 1. CLEANSER: I Cleanse face with raw milk/ boiled when raw unavailable, applied l...
